BERING PEACE ISLAND CITY
2009– This is the 2nd TAMA’s Peace project. This art landscape project is a City for PEACE between USA and Russia, located at the Bering Strait, and designed by the famous French artist of light Nathalie Junot-Ponsart (www.nathalie-junodponsard.com) and Architect Nguyen Manh Tuan.
The Bering Strait is a large scale project, aimed at linking railroad systems by connecting the Bering Strait between the North American and the Eurasian Continents.
Through this unprecedented project, the Bering Strait intends to be a place of mutual cooperation where the East and the West hemisphere are linked, the discontinuity of nation, human and culture disappears, and a long-pending hostility and conflict can be cleared up.
Viewed from the sky, the project is also a land art project, consisting of arcs of light like a main frame where vessels are fixed / floating bridges. That helps recreate the city, which is visible from the sky, especially during the polar night.
