VIETNAM NEW CIRCUS
2008 – This project was a meeting with Nguyen Nhat Ly, a former clown, now a brilliant artist, musician and producer of “Mon Village”, a “nouveau cirque” show made by bamboo dance with contemporary and traditional Vietnamese music.
We had an idea of a new circus made by earth, bamboo and steel, around a public space made by water and bamboo. The roof of the circus could remind us of the Vietnamese women hat.
This circus could be like a modern interpretation of cabaret, like the Moulin Rouge, an entertainment space where we could not only have fusion culture and space of freedom but also the preservation of the Vietnamese culture.
